The Gloucestershire children’s respite team delivers home-based specialist care and support to children who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition and are not expected to reach adulthood.

We are is a countywide specialist service for children and young people aged up to 18, who have a designated consultant community paediatrician managing their ongoing care.

Once an agreement for a care package has been made, the team will provide specialist care. The care will be delivered by a team of nurses and skilled carers. Care packages may include overnight care. The team provides transitional care into adult services.

How Can I be Referred?

All children need to be referred to the children's community nursing team. A referral form is available.

Where May You Be Seen?

The children’s respite team work countywide and care will primarily be delivered in your own home.

How Do You Cancel/Change an Appointment?

If you need to reschedule an appointment, please contact the team on 01242 259223 as soon as possible, so that this appointment can be offered to someone else.

Hours of Service

The service provided is dependant on the child’s assessed need.

Office hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday-Friday.
