Linda Edwards (right), matron of North Cotswolds Hospital with staffPatients at North Cotswolds Hospital have been praising ward staff for the high quality of their care in a report published this week by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). 

The new 22-bed hospital at Moreton-in-Marsh, which opened earlier this year, offers in-patient care and a range of services including a minor injuries unit, GP minor operations and outpatient clinics and therapies.

The CQC visit focused on seven aspects of care, including patient consent for treatment, record keeping, staffing levels and quality of care when patients move between services.  In their report, the inspectors commented that ‘all people we spoke with were very happy with the standard of care they received’.
The report has been welcomed by Gloucestershire Care Services, which runs the county’s seven community hospitals and more than sixty different community health services.

Head of nursing Liz Fenton said: Such praise coming directly from patients is to the great credit of staff who work incredibly hard to provide a caring, high quality service.”

 “We’re always looking for ways to better the quality of our care and the report highlights two areas – patient records and care planning – where we can improve our performance.  A detailed action plan has been developed and our staff are now putting the changes in place.”

Matron of North Cotswolds Hospital Linda Edwards added: “All our staff are continuously striving to ensure all patients receive an excellent standard of care: they work extremely hard and to get such high praise from patients is a real feather in our cap!”
