Tewkesbury Royal small v2
Staff at Tewkesbury Community Hospital were celebrating last week after a successful and enjoyable opening ceremony performed by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.

A sudden downpour failed to dampen the spirits as Princess Anne arrived at around 10.15am on Wednesday 28 January to be greeted by Dame Janet Trotter, Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, before being given a tour of the £10m facility by matron Julie Ellery.
During her tour the Princess met staff and patients, watched activities in the day room and was given a presentation by a local GP about plans for a new surgery on the site opposite the hospital.
Matron Julie Ellery said: “The staff absolutely loved it and the patients were thrilled. Princess Anne was delightful for the whole visit - engaged and interested and asking great questions.
“It’s taken a lot of work and planning so I’m really pleased the event went so well.”
Ingrid Barker, chair of Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust, said: “Colleagues from across the Trust, together with our partners in the county, have worked incredibly hard to make Tewkesbury Community Hospital a success.
“It represents what we as a Trust want to achieve – high quality health services in the community which people both want and value.”
