Member of the adult speech and language team highlighted their work with head and neck cancer patients at Cheltenham Science Festival over the weekend.

The team were part of a joint display with colleagues from the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) department from Gloucestershire Royal Hospitals NHS Trust at the 'Extraordinary Everyday' event.

The focus was on Multidisciplinary team (MDT) work with ENT colleagues for patients who had a laryngectomy (removal of the voice box).

The display, in the foyer of the Oncology Centre at Cheltenham General Hospital, also featured video footage of operations in progress and displays on facial reconstruction surgery - providing a walkthrough from diagnosis to surgery and then recovery, using patients' words and experiences to provide a personal and realistic perspective.
