Tewkesbury Community Hospital signage - small31 Jan - Tewkesbury Community Hospital is open as usual despite flooding in the Howells Road car park. The car park is closed to both vehicles and pedestrians so there is no parking or pedestrian access from the back of the hospital to the main entrance. As a result, we are diverting pedestrians to use the gated entrance through Barton Mews (a short distance from the old hospital entrance off Barton Street) to enable staff, patients and their visitors to access the hospital.

We have put a one way system in place for vehicles to access the hospital, asking vehicles to enter from Barton Road, and exit from Barton Mews. We have porters on hand to help control the flow of vehicles during peak times, which will hopefully ease pressure for patients, visitors and relatives.

The demolition of the previous hospital building is under way, and contractors are working to complete further car parking and a new entrance route from Barton Street. These works are expected to be completed by Easter. Temporary vehicle access from Howells Road (to the rear of the hospital) to the hospital’s main entrance will be completed in early February.

We would like to ask staff, patients and visitors to not park in Barton Mews, as this is a resident only area. The nearest pay and display car park to the hospital is at Cascades Leisure Centre.
