community hospital patient and health care assistantThree non-executive director designates were announced today by Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust, alongside the decision by one board member to stand down.

Christopher Creswick, former Chairman of Weston Area Health NHS Trust, Susan Mead, a former Non-Executive Director of Herefordshire Primary Care Trust and West Mercia Cluster, and Nicola Strother Smith, a Deputy Director at the NHS Improving Quality Delivery Team and former National Director of NHS Diabetes and Kidney Care, are the new designate board members. Anne Noble, Chair of the Integrated Governance and Quality Committee, is to stand down.

The process of appointment of designate non-executive directors was overseen by the Trust Development Authority.

Chair of Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust, Ingrid Barker, said today: “I am delighted to welcome Christopher, Nicola and Susan as designate members of the Board. I would also like to thank Anne for her years of valued service to the NHS. We wish her well.”

Christopher Creswick was a non-executive director of Gloucestershire Ambulance Trust 1993-96, Chairman of Gloucestershire Health Authority 1996-2002, Acting Chair of North Somerset PCT 2005-06, and Chairman of Weston Area Health NHS Trust 2007-13. He is a trustee and currently Chairman of Crossroads Care, Forest of Dean and Herefordshire, and a Trustee of the Independence Trust. He was formerly an Executive Director of RHM Grocery Ltd.

Susan Mead was a board member and Chair of the Quality, Performance and Resources Committee for both the West Mercia Cluster of PCTs, 2012-2013, and for Herefordshire PCT, in which she was a non-executive director from 2004-2012. Her background includes work at the Audit Commission, as an Assistant Director at Birmingham City Council, in the Lord Chancellor’s Office. She is a qualified psychiatric social worker and child care social worker.

Nicola Strother Smith is Deputy Director of Transition and Delivery in the NHS Improving Quality Delivery Team. She was previously National Director for NHS Diabetes and Kidney Care, Cancer Network Director for the 3 Counties Cancer Network and has been a superintendent radiographer.

Anne Noble, standing down, has been chair of the Integrated Governance and Quality Committee. She was previously Director at the Health Services Development and Evaluation Centre at Brunel University and a non-executive director for Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Primary Care Trust, and for NHS Gloucestershire.
