Tewkesbury Community Hospital signageWork is continuing at Tewkesbury Community Hospital to correct a number of ‘building snags’ that were identified in the final checks to the hospital and its facilities, and which relate to the electrical and mechanical systems. Patients continue to be cared for on the ward at the present hospital site, and a range of outpatient clinics are being run as normal.

Mark Parsons, head of estates for Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust, said: “At this stage, we are not able to give a firm date for completion. The work to identify and resolve the issues rests with our contractor, Seddons, and we are continuing to work closely with them to ensure that the new hospital, when it is handed over to the Trust, meets the necessary quality and safety standards to our satisfaction. The delay is frustrating for everyone involved, and we are grateful to staff, patients and the wider community for their patience and continued support.”

Susan Field, director of adult services for Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust, said: “We are continuing to work closely with GPs and colleagues in the wider health community in Gloucestershire to manage the situation appropriately for patients and their families, and we will communicate updates to local people through our website, the press, League of Friends and other community groups, so that we keep everyone informed.”
