Barton and Tredworth volunteering event March 2013A promotional event to encourage new volunteers to become involved in their local NHS organisations was successful in attracting thirty members of the public to find out more about the opportunities available.

The event, organised by community volunteer Bren McInerney and held at Barton and Tredworth Community Centre, involved 2gether Foundation Trust, Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. As such, it was a great example of co-ordination across the Trusts, and featured a welcome speech from each of the organisation’s chairs.

Fiona Farrington, volunteer co-ordinator, and Marit Endresen, service experience officer, who attended the event. Fiona commented: “It was great to see so many people turn out to find out more about volunteering with us.  We had some great feedback from the public, with the majority of comments showing a real interest in volunteering within the local NHS.”

If you or someone you know would like to donate some time and become a volunteer for Gloucestershire Care Services please contact Fiona Farrington, volunteer co-ordinator on 0300 421 8363 or e-mail careservicesvolunteers@glos.nhs.uk
